How the setup works

Godox V1Mid Compact Round Head TTL Speedlite

The V1Mid provides the flash source for the kit. Its compact round-head design makes it well suited to portable setups where a full-size studio flash is not required. Taking the flash off-camera allows you to control where the light comes from rather than keeping it fixed to the camera position.

40-inch Black/Silver Studio Bounce Umbrella

For this setup, the V1Mid is aimed into the silver surface and the reflected light is bounced back towards the subject. The umbrella increases the effective size of the light source compared with using the bare speedlite alone, while its reflective silver surface provides an efficient bounce configuration. The black exterior prevents the umbrella from functioning as a conventional shoot-through modifier and helps keep the flash directed towards the reflective surface.

Godox S3 S-Type SMART Speedlite Adapter Bracket

It holds the speedlite for off-camera use and provides an umbrella mounting point for the included bounce umbrella. Once attached to the light stand, the bracket can be angled to help position the flash and umbrella towards the subject. The bracket also incorporates a Bowens S-Type fitting, allowing compatible Bowens S-Type modifiers to be added if you want to expand the setup later.

PIXAPRO 190cm Standard Light Stand

The PIXAPRO 190cm Standard Light Stand provides the support for the complete lighting assembly. Adjustable height allows the flash and umbrella to be positioned to suit the subject. Raising, lowering and changing the angle of the light can make a significant difference to the resulting portrait.
