Product Description

The SongRaw Moonlit AF 50mm F1.2 is a full-frame autofocus lens designed for portraits, still life and street photography. Its large F1.2 maximum aperture provides a shallow depth of field, helping separate subjects from the background while allowing more light to reach the sensor in low-light conditions.

The 50mm focal length offers a familiar, natural perspective, making it a versatile choice for everyday creative work. At the maximum F1.2 aperture, the lens is designed to maintain sharpness towards the edges while producing a smooth background blur.

Its optical design combines 15 elements in 10 groups, including four ED elements, seven high-refractive-index elements and two aspherical elements. High-definition nano coating is used to reduce reflections, glare and ghosting, while supporting light transmission and colour reproduction.

How it works / Component Breakdown

F1.2 large aperture

The F1.2 maximum aperture allows a high level of light intake, helping produce brighter images and making it easier to achieve a shallow depth of field. This can isolate a subject against a softly rendered background, with fine details such as hair and eyelashes remaining clearly defined.

50mm focal length

The classic 50mm focal length provides a natural-looking perspective and suits a broad range of subjects, from portraits and still life to street scenes.

Autofocus system

STM stepping motors combined with closed-loop monitoring provide continuous autofocus with real-time feedback from the focus group. Eye-recognition autofocus is supported, while the system is designed to reduce focus inaccuracies caused by lost steps.

Optical construction

The lens uses a 10-group, 15-element optical design incorporating four ED elements, seven HR elements and two aspherical elements. These elements are used to support image quality and control optical aberrations.

High-definition nano coating

The nano coating is designed to reduce reflections, glare and ghosting. The stated average single-side reflectivity is as low as 0.2%, helping improve light transmission, colour reproduction and resolution.

Physical controls

An AF/MF switch allows quick selection between autofocus and manual focus. The customisable FN button provides access to user-selected functions, while the de-clicked aperture switch allows smooth manual adjustment of aperture values for suitable video workflows.

Construction and protection

The lens features aerospace-grade aluminium alloy construction for structural strength, alongside a dust and splash-resistant design. The front element also has a hydrophobic, anti-smudge coating.

Why choose this lens

The SongRaw Moonlit AF 50mm F1.2 combines a fast F1.2 aperture with full-frame coverage and autofocus, giving photographers a flexible option for subject isolation, portraits and low-light shooting. Its dedicated optical elements, nano coating and robust metal construction complement the core 50mm design.

Ideal uses

  • Portrait photography
  • Street photography
  • Still life
  • Everyday full-frame photography
  • Low-light photography
  • Video with continuous autofocus
